Bulk Mail 101
Services

Bulk mail consists of 200 or more pieces of identical mail sent to specific people or organization or, mailed within a certain geographical area.

These pieces are sorted by Zip Code and placed in trays or sacks.

Bulk mail is divided into several different groups.  Primarily  Presorted letters and flats, Automation (able to be read by machine and Delivery Point Bar Coded)  presorted letters and flats, and Carrier Route letters and flats.

Presorted Mail:

Offers lower postage costs than mailing first class. Mail must be sorted by 150 or more pieces to a 3 digit or 5 digit Zip code, bundled and labeled accordingly and placed in trays or bags.

Automation Mail w/ CASS Certification:

This group offers an additional postage saving of up to six cents per piece.  Because the addresses have been CASS Certified they contain a Delivery Point Bar Code. This means that the addresses meet the U.S. Postal Service Regulations for deliverability which saves money by eliminating bad or undeliverable addresses.

Carrier Route Mail:

Carrier Route presorted pieces offer an additional savings in that a business can mail into a specific neighborhood they wish to target. This offers the lowest possible postage rate and is a good medium for capturing new customers or clients for service oriented businesses.
